As CFO, you’ll join a world-class executive team, ensuring excellent financial management, and advising and contributing to our strategic expansion into new spaces: product ranges, sales channels and geographies.


You are considered and strategic, yet curious and flexible in your approach. You love the numbers behind a business and enjoy seeing business outcomes represented numerically. You have CFO experience and want to move to a company with an excellent culture, doing interesting and good things in the world. You’re excited by an environment where things are always growing and changing, and you’ll need to continuously redesign our future systems and oversee the existing ones. Experience in a retail, product, e-commerce or inventory management context is close to essential, but we’re open-minded, and you might be able to show that you have the relevant skills despite not having worked in those specific industries.

We need you to bring your knowledge of accounting, finance and strategy to continue our rapid growth and build our systems and approaches to doing business on a global scale that will set us up for years to come. You’ll be managing our highly capable finance team, informing our (minority) institutional investors, and we hope you’ll be as comfortable getting your hands dirty in the data as you will be thinking strategically with the senior team.


  • Worked alongside your team to review and publish the reporting pack for business performance last month
  • Updated cashflow projections and worked with the operations teams to ensure we planned pre-holiday season inventory purchases
  • Supported the Finance Manager and external accountants in completing the annual external audit, providing guidance on new finance policies that are needed as Bellroy grows
  • Met with our external overseas accountants and in house counsel, taking the lead in setting up the financial operating strategy for our Chinese and US entities
  • Collaborated with our China-based accountants and our in-house tax accountant to resolve any transfer pricing issues that arise as we establish our Chinese entity
  • Discussed the current sales forecasting and budgets with the Finance Manager, and collaborated on a new financial report to help us measure the success of our step-change projects
  • Attended the quarterly Board meeting to report on financial performance and answer questions raised by the Directors
  • Met with our Head of People and Culture to discuss the proposed new payroll system and the potential for improvement to our HR systems within it
  • Took a call from one of Bellroy’s external, institutional investors to answer some questions about movements in the balance sheet
  • Met with your manager, Lina (COO and Co-Founder) to discuss an upcoming change in reporting requirements and advise on the best way forward

Our beach HQ sits behind giant sandstone cliffs that overlook one of Australia’s best-known surfing coastlines. It’s where our Product Designers experiment in the Maker Lab, and our Sales team consume awesome amounts of espresso and Skype bandwidth. Things are more tranquil here than our Fitzroy neighbours and we like the focus that can create. There’s a cafe right next door if you need a quick bite and our 11am surf check always provides the perfect chance to reset the mind with some salt air.


Our Fitzroy space is immersed in the middle of Melbourne’s creative hub. It’s where our Creative, Marketing, Engineering and Operations teams develop campaigns and ensure each Bellroy is sent safely across the world. Walk out the door and you’ll find streets bursting with energy (and the best ramen joint this side of Tokyo). There’s also an olympic-size pool just around the corner for those in need of a lunchtime refresh.


Outside of our two main headquarters we have a team that works remotely - from Western Australia to parts of Asia, the USA and Europe. Being global is at the heart of Bellroy, it keeps us connected, and makes sure we see life from many different perspectives.
