Replacing your Transit Carry-On TSA Lock

Included in your Fix-it Kit

1 x TSA lock (including housing), 1 x crosshead screwdriver, 2 x screws

Step-by-step instructions

Part A: Removing the original TSA lock

NOTE: If the case is closed and the lock set, and you’ve forgotten the code, an alternative solution is required. Please reach out to us at support@bellroy.com.

  1. Unzip the main compartment on the left-hand side and find the centre zip. This has an upside-down zipper pull, so you will be able to open it by inserting something small into the gap and making the gap larger. Unzip from the top down.
  2. From the interior of the case, locate the lock. You will see a box with 2 screws (this is the housing).
  3. Using the screwdriver, undo these 2 screws.
  4. Remove the internal housing from the interior of the case, and the lock itself from the exterior of the case.

Part B: Installing the new TSA lock

  1. Put the new housing in place from the interior of the case, and the new lock into place from the exterior of the case. Ensure that the lock is placed in the correct direction – looking at the case’s exterior when it’s laying on its rear side, the slots for the zippers go to the left, and the numerical dials go to the right.
  2. Use the screwdriver to fasten the 2 screws into the housing from the interior of the case.
  3. Zip the ‘upside-down’ zip back up, from bottom to top.

You now have a replaced TSA lock. Congrats!
