Edition 02: Riverbark
Behind the design
For this experiment, Bellroy’s own (very) Creative Director put his background in illustration to use, designing a print based on his riverside walks during lockdown.
The inspiration for this pattern came from the native trees and waterways in Bellroy’s own backyard – the land of the indigenous Wurundjeri People along Melbourne's Yarra River.

“Over the past year the world has felt like it's shrunk to the size of a neighbourhood. And with that, creative inspiration has had to come from smaller, subtler moments. As a Melbourne local I've walked the banks of the Yarra River hundreds of times, but never noticed the myriad of bark patterns within the eucalyptus trees that line its banks. That bark is what inspired this vivid camo print and the colors within it.”
