IN A NUTSHELL

We’re searching for a Recruiter to find great people, help us grow as a business and maintain the culture we have worked hard to foster. You’ll work closely with our hiring managers to build their teams, work with candidates to understand what they are searching for and ensure our new staff land in roles they are going to love and succeed in.

We do recruitment differently. Our process includes psychometric testing, interviews and a work simulation to give a peak behind the curtain of what it is like to work at Bellroy. Changing jobs is an important decision and making sure we all have enough information to make an informed choice is essential in this process. We’ve found a deep understanding of our candidates' skills, work styles and passions has helped us to hire (and retain) some really amazing people. We won’t measure your success through the number of emails you send or people you call, success will be evident in the experience you give candidates and the quality of the people you hire. And you’ll be hiring plenty of them, across all levels, functions (from tech or data to marketing or design), and regions.

You might not have much experience with a process like this, cross-border or cross-functional recruitment and that’s OK. What’s most important is your willingness to learn and your enthusiasm for learning new ways of working and thinking. Bring us your curiosity, ability to connect with people and uncanny ability to see potential. YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE...

  • 2-5 years working in recruitment (either agency or in-house)
  • A natural ability to network, build relationships and easily connect with all types of people – in person or virtually, you’re comfortable with both
  • Honed your sourcing skills and processes and know how to gain the attention of the best candidates in the market (and talent pool those that might not be quite right yet)
  • A knack for being able to feel your way through ambiguity, trust your processes, and make tangible decisions
  • The ability to prioritise and juggle multiple responsibilities at the same time while keeping stakeholders informed
  • The ability to have difficult conversations – with both candidates and hiring managers – when something isn’t aligning (you know it’s better to be clear and not to sugarcoat things, and you are able to show that you care about people while you do that)
  • An interest in how businesses operate and how the people you hire fit into it
  • Bonus points for fluency in Mandarin

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST WEEK, YOU MIGHT HAVE...

  • Brainstormed how you might find the right candidate for a role – figuring out where to advertise and a sourcing strategy to find just the right person
  • Actively searched for candidates you think might be a good fit for our growing technology team and reached out to them with a customised note
  • Attended a local recruitment meet-up and implemented a new sourcing idea you brainstormed with a peer
  • Reviewed applications in our applicant tracking system and paired with a hiring manager to conduct a few initial video calls with potential candidates – helping the hiring manager to get a feel for the candidate, and making sure the candidate gets excited about the role
  • Realised a strong candidate might have lost interest and reached out to them to talk through their concerns
  • Noticed one of our advertisements isn’t working as expected, explored why you think that might be the case and tweaked it
  • Advocated for a candidate that doesn’t have the exact background that we want but you think could be a good match for a role
  • Given helpful and honest (but always kind) feedback to a candidate about why we chose not to move forward with them

Our Spaces

Bellroy' is a fusion of our two homes – Bells Beach and Fitzroy. Bells Beach brings a relaxed, outdoor vibe to balance Fitzroy's creative, urban style. The city and the sea; inspiration and adventure. Together they provide a perfect balance.

Bells Beach

Our beach HQ sits behind giant sandstone cliffs that overlook one of Australia’s best-known surfing coastlines. It’s where our Product Designers experiment in the Maker Lab, and our Sales team consume awesome amounts of espresso and Skype bandwidth. Things are more tranquil here than our Fitzroy neighbours and we like the focus that can create. There’s a cafe right next door if you need a quick bite and our 11am surf check always provides the perfect chance to reset the mind with some salt air.

Fitzroy

Our Fitzroy space is immersed in the middle of Melbourne’s creative hub. It’s where our Creative, Marketing, Engineering and Operations teams develop campaigns and ensure each Bellroy is sent safely across the world. Walk out the door and you’ll find streets bursting with energy (and the best ramen joint this side of Tokyo).

Remotely

Outside of our two main headquarters we have a team that works remotely - from Western Australia to parts of Asia, the USA and Europe. Being global is at the heart of Bellroy, it keeps us connected, and makes sure we see life from many different perspectives.
