Our favorite travel bag combinations

One-bag carry is a big trend. But it’s also pretty limiting (and a little stressful!). We recommend thinking about your ‘plus’ bag at least as much as your main luggage – either a cross-body bag or daypack for excursions, or a collapsible bag that emerges from your carry-on for shorter trips at your destination (or overflow if you do a little too much shopping!).

Here are our favorite travel bag combinations for different kinds of travel, as recommended by our founding designer, Andy.

Transit Backpack Plus + Venture Sling

Start with your main hauler – the Transit Backpack Plus can be checked or carried onboard and can handle everything you need for a standard trip away, including a second pair of shoes, some versatile outfits and a trimmed down toiletries bag.

But, for your important travel documents, entertainment and snacks for the flight or day out exploring is where a sling comes into its own. Our Venture Sling (that comes in a range of sizes) is great for keeping your essentials close at hand while flying and transiting. And when you’ve found your accommodation you can ditch the main bag and your travel documents and add a small water bottle, spray jacket and spare battery to your sling for your days out exploring.

Classic Weekender + Tokyo Totepack

Better suited to work (or trans-seasonal) trips is this slightly larger capacity duo. You’ll fit a few extra sets of underwear, and maybe that nice jacket that is a little bulkier than your featherlight shell.

The Classic Weekender holds all of your clothing, and can be stored at your accommodation. The Tokyo Totepack (which comes in two sizes – standard or compact) presents well in hand in a work setting, but can then be carried on your back for a weekend excursion or long walk to dinner.

The essential add-on: Toiletry Kit

Our Toiletry Kit comes in two sizes, depending on your skincare regime or length of trip. It comes with water-resistant lining, a separate toothbrush sleeve and soft shape that packs neatly in any of our travel bags.

The extra bag that packs flat: Lite Tote

For impromptu boat days (when you need to carry a towel, water and probably extra snacks) or ‘can’t leave it behind’ shopping finds, the Lite Tote pops out of your main bag. It uses a strong fabric that’s three times lighter than the rest, so you can always fit it in – rolled or folded – without sacrificing anything else.
