Operations Lead

Bellroy is on the search for an Operations Lead to oversee our warehousing, logistics and transactions functions. The Operations Lead will be responsible for managing a small team who oversees our 3PL warehouses across five countries; managing relationships with our freight forwarders; continuously improving operations processes and ensuring our newly upgraded ERP system, NetSuite, is reporting transactions accurately.

With more than 30% growth year-on-year, we are focused on upgrading our processes and systems to have us ready for faster growth. The work of the Operations Lead will be vital to that.

At Bellroy, we work with a growth mindset. We’re always experimenting, iterating and shifting in search of better ways to achieve our goals. If you get excited by the idea of working in a fast-paced environment in a considered way, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and working with our world-class team of staff and partners across the globe, then you should probably read on.

You are an analytical thinker, with a real thirst for knowledge. But while the analysis swirls inside your logical brain, you’re able to put it aside to connect to the humans around you. You are decisive yet collaborative. Confident yet humble. You are solution focused, and have an uncanny ability to see the problem before it’s actually a problem. You can solve things on the fly and update processes as improvements reveal themselves to you. But you also know you don’t need to have all the answers yourself, if you think the team could do it better together.

You have exceptional organisational skills, there are no two ways about it. Rarely outdone in the planning stakes, you like to be one step ahead, all of the time. And your razor-sharp eye for detail helps you see what’s wrong, or missing, before almost anybody else. But it’s not all just details and process. You know how to communicate effectively to reach the desired outcomes, and eliminate confusion.

If you can bring your problem-solving, analytical mind and big-picture thinking, we’ll give you a world-class team to bounce off, the tools you need to do your thing and the support to help you develop.

  • A technical degree and at least three years of relevant experience
  • Strong people management skills – you know how to set priorities and motivate your team towards achieving common goals
  • Excellent communication skills, and an understanding of just how important they are for solving problems
  • Advanced data analysis/management and spreadsheet skills
  • Bonus points for experience with NetSuite

  • Kicked off a project with our Operations Manager to assess the cost-reduction opportunities in our supply chain
  • Collaborated with our Logistics Coordinator, to create a process for the compliant processing of the orders of a new key customer
  • Conducted a retrospective with our 3PL partners to understand why an important customer order was delivered late and put corrective processes in place to avoid it happening again
  • Worked with our legal counsel to update our New Zealand customs clearance process in line with a regulatory change due to come into effect in the coming weeks
  • Calculated and set our Christmas delivery promise to our customers
  • Established a new Amazon seller account in UAE
  • Noticed that a performance metric on Amazon has been declining and initiated an investigation to put corrective measures in place before it became a problem

This role is full-time and based in our Fitzroy office.

Operations Lead

Inspire better ways to carry.
Use business as a force for good.
Help the world, and our crew, flourish.

Our Spaces

'Bellroy' is a fusion of our two homes – Bells Beach and Fitzroy. Bells Beach brings a relaxed, outdoor vibe to balance Fitzroy's creative, urban style. The city and the sea; inspiration and adventure. Together they provide a perfect balance.

Bells Beach

Our beach HQ sits behind giant sandstone cliffs that overlook one of Australia’s best-known surfing coastlines. It’s where our Product Designers experiment in the Maker Lab, and our Sales team consume awesome amounts of espresso and Skype bandwidth. Things are more tranquil here than our Fitzroy neighbours and we like the focus that can create. There’s a cafe right next door if you need a quick bite and our 11am surf check always provides the perfect chance to reset the mind with some salt air.

Our Fitzroy space is immersed in the middle of Melbourne’s creative hub. It’s where our Creative, Marketing, Engineering and Operations teams develop campaigns and ensure each Bellroy is sent safely across the world. Walk out the door and you’ll find streets bursting with energy (and the best ramen joint this side of Tokyo). There’s also an olympic-size pool just around the corner for those in need of a lunchtime refresh.

Outside of our two main headquarters we have a team that works remotely - from Western Australia to parts of Asia, the USA and Europe. Being global is at the heart of Bellroy, it keeps us connected, and makes sure we see life from many different perspectives. If you have an internet connection and the flexibility to become part of a team you don’t see everyday, you might consider joining our growing global network.
