Margin & Pricing Analyst

IN A NUTSHELL

Bellroy is a growing, global business. Since we launched 12+ years ago, we’ve shipped carry goods to 172 countries from warehouses on 4 continents, sold out of 1100 doorways and now release about 50 new products a year (give or take). Resilience is at the heart of our business and in a world where supply chains are constrained, and currencies are volatile, we’re in need of a financial analyst to dig into our financials to help us remodel, adapt and optimise our processes to maximise growth.

You’ll work cross-functionally across the business to better understand and optimise our pricing & margins. You will analyse and understand what’s driving our costs as well as build forecasts and processes to help us monitor our margins by product type, across all of our revenue channels. You’ll also inform our pricing strategy and execution, making sure we price appropriately across all of our product ranges and marketplaces globally.

IF YOU WERE HERE LAST MONTH, YOU MIGHT HAVE:

  • Analysed our supply chain costs to understand how they differ by product type and country, understand how this is impacting our landed cost & in turn our margins in each marketplace
  • Completed a pricing review after recent foreign exchange rate volatility
  • Spent time with our wholesale team understanding our discounts & markup rates & making recommendations to improve our profitability while maintaining healthy sales growth
  • Spoken with our Chief Production Officer to understand what is driving costs within manufacturing to see how we can optimise this space further
  • Discussed logistics costing with our Logistics and Sales Operations Manager and built a dashboard to monitor costs by provider
  • Rebuilt our new product pricing procedure to make sure we have globally consistent pricing
  • Advised our CFO on pricing updates in one of our growing marketplaces

YOU COULD BE THE ONE IF YOU HAVE…

  • Experience in an analyst role (ideally between 3-7 years within financial, business or supply chain)
  • The ability to analyse data to produce useful reports and calibrated recommendations
  • Interest in working with other teams to develop processes that better align business decisions
  • The desire to get your hands a bit dirty, you want to be involved in the implementation of the process you create so you can understand what is working and what you can do better next time
  • The willingness to engage in a challenging, intellectually honest environment and contribute to it
  • Excellent communication and continuous improvement skills and an ability to collaborate with a range of cross-functional teams and stakeholders
  • The desire to work for a company that cares about doing good things for the world

'Bellroy' is a fusion of our two homes – Bells Beach and Fitzroy. Bells Beach brings a relaxed, outdoor vibe to balance Fitzroy's creative, urban style. The city and the sea; inspiration and adventure. Together they provide a perfect balance.

Bells Beach

Our beach HQ sits behind giant sandstone cliffs that overlook one of Australia’s best-known surfing coastlines. It’s where our Product Designers experiment in the Maker Lab, and our Sales team consume awesome amounts of espresso and Skype bandwidth. Things are more tranquil here than our Fitzroy neighbours and we like the focus that can create. There’s a cafe right next door if you need a quick bite and our 11am surf check always provides the perfect chance to reset the mind with some salt air.

Fitzroy

Our Fitzroy space is immersed in the middle of Melbourne’s creative hub. It’s where our Creative, Marketing, Engineering and Operations teams develop campaigns and ensure each Bellroy is sent safely across the world. Walk out the door and you’ll find streets bursting with energy (and the best ramen joint this side of Tokyo). There’s also an olympic-size pool just around the corner for those in need of a lunchtime refresh.

Remotely

Outside of our two main headquarters we have a team that works remotely - from Western Australia to parts of Asia, the USA and Europe. Being global is at the heart of Bellroy, it keeps us connected, and makes sure we see life from many different perspectives.
